Join Us For The "Celebration" Of The Silva Bay Boat School Students 

Silva Bay on Gabriola Island is home to the renowned Silva Bay Boat School. Each April, our event co-sponsors,    Barefoot Wooden Boats and our island community, join in celebrating the graduating students that have completed the boat building course.We do this through a weekend event called the "Annual Maritime Festival". On Friday, you'll welcome a floatilla of wooden vessels that "pilgramage" to Silva Bay for the event. That night, Chef Jesse and his team in the Bar & Grill formally "kicks" off the festival with dining & entertainment that will "knock your socks off ." Saturday is an all day affair starting with the proud moment; the students launching the watercraft they've built for months. The day continues with tours of  visiting vessels,  Boat School student graduation ceremonies, sailing races in "Proudly Built on Gabriola" wooden boats, venders set up with great items for sail and other informative workshop sessions with maritime trade experts.
